Revive Church KC Vision 4: Impact Your World
Impact your World | Bring God's goodness to Kansas City and around the globe.
When you encounter God, experience transformation, and grow in Jesus, the next step is becoming a blessing to others. A fully devoted disciple of Jesus Christ knows they are called to touch the lives of many people in their world and beyond.
At the begging of this teaching, we talked about Lord being the Missio Dei—the God who’s on a mission. We believe he is inviting us to join him in the work that he’s doing on the earth.
Humanity has been called to be fruitful. In fact, the original command that the Lord gave to people in the Garden of Eden, was as follows:
“God said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth” (Genesis 1:28).
Bearing fruit is not optional for the sons and daughters of God. It’s a vital part of who we are and what we’re supposed to do.
Later, in the New Testament, Jesus said: “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit” (John 15:1-2a). All of us have a responsibility to be fruitful. There will be no excuses for bareness.
We serve and invest in the people around us. We pour our lives into our families, neighborhoods, and communities—making a tangible difference in the lives of people around us. We also give our time, talent, and treasure to the Church—serving the people that we worship alongside. The Apostle Paul reminded early Christians, “Serve one another humbly in love” (Galatians 5:13).
God has given each of us wisdom, giftings, abilities, and resources to help others. Everyone has something to offer, and all need to be prepared to release what’s in their hands.
We serve and invest in others with kindness. Our attitude is not like the unredeemed who are gunning for prominence. We are doing it unto the Lord. Jesus gave the following guidance:
“You know that the rulers in this world lord it over their people, and officials flaunt their authority over those under them. It shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant” (Matthew 20:25-26).
We build up and guide others, and we do it honorably. Leadership is first and foremost an act of service. If you are called to lead, you are called to serve.
Believers need to pour out their lives for family, neighbors, coworkers, church members, and others. Describing his own approach, Paul declared, “I am already being poured out like a drink offering” (2 Timothy 4:6). Has your life have been poured out, too?
